Vietnam - Kyrgyzstan relations

1. Political relations

On  December 27, 1991, Vietnam recognized Kazakhstan’s independence. The two countries signed the protocol on establishing diplomatic relations at the ambassadorial level on  June 4, 1992.

The political ties between Vietnam and Kazakhstan are generally fine. There are no outstanding issues between the two countries.

On June 2005, a delegation led by Assistant Foreign Minister Dao Viet Trung visited Kyrgyzstan to promote the bilateral ties.

2. Economic and trade relations

So far, the economic cooperation between the two countries remains very modest. The bilateral trade exchange only reached 20,000 USD (according to the report of Kyrgyz Chairman of Lower House on May 2005).

The Ambassador of Vietnam to Uzbekistan is also in charge of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Malaysia is also in charge of Vietnam. (Updated as of 12 June 2007)
