VIETNAM - MADAGASCA RELATIONS
Vietnam and Madagascar established their diplomatic relations on December 18, 1972. In 1979, Vietnam opened its Embassy in Madagascar. However, due to economic difficulties, it was closed in 1990.
Now, Vietnam’s Embassy in South Africa concurrently handles Madagascar and Madagascar’s Embassy in China concurrently handles Vietnam.
The two countries’ delegation exchanges:
- March 2003, Vietnam’s Minister of Culture and Information paid a visit to Madagascar.
- November 2003, Vice-President, Madam Truong My Hoa paid an official visit to Madagascar.
The two sides have signed the following agreements: Tripartite Agreement on agriculture cooperation between Vietnam, Madagascar and FAO (1999), and General Agreement on Cooperation in economics, culture, science and technology (2003).
