Viet Nam wants more French aid for education, health care
At a reception in Ha Noi on April 13, Deputy PM Khoan also told French Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Renaud Muselier that the Vietnamese Government advocates allowing foreigners to build hospitals and schools in the country.
He noted that bilateral political ties have seen fine development with the visit to Viet Nam by the French President in October last year being a lively reflection. France has been Viet Nam's leading European supporter in Viet Nam's negotiations with the European Union on the latter's accession to the World Trade Organisation (WTO).
Secretary of State Muselier said: "France is confident that Viet Nam will be able to join WTO soon." He said that Viet Nam is a potential market with more than 80 million consumers and enjoys favourable geographical conditions.
He also voiced his support for Viet Nam's public health and education development.
France has effectively cooperated with Viet Nam in preventing severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and avian flu, Muselier said. France welcomes 3,500 Vietnamese students each year./.
