Vietnamese embassy marks 30th anniversary of relations with Mexico


(VNA)- The Vietnamese embassy in Mexico on May 25 held a reception on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations with Mexico.

Present at the event were over 300 representatives of the Federal Government, legislative agencies, political parties and social organisations.

Vietnamese Ambassador Le Van Thinh reviewed the history of bilateral relaitons with major progress having been made in bilateral trade which increased by 48 percent to 187 million USD last year.

He also reaffirmed Viet Nam's policy to become a reliable partner of the international community and work for peace, national independence and socialism.

For her part, Under Secretary of External Relations Lourdes Aranda said the Asia-Pacific region is placed high in Mexico's foreign policy which focuses on diverse economic relations.

She expressed high expections for a huge leap forward in relations between the two countries in the years to come.

Toasts were raised for new heights in the comprehensive co-operation between the two countries to match their great potential.
