Vietnam and Venezuela to open diplomatic agencies in capital cities

(VNA): Vietnam and Venezuela will quickly open diplomatic representative agencies in their capital cities.

The decision was made during a meeting in Hanoi on July 8 between Deputy Prime Minister Vu Khoan and William E. Izarra, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela, who is on an official visit to Vietnam.

The two sides discussed measures to boost friendly and comprehensive co-operative ties between Vietnam and Venezuela on the basis of equality and mutual benefit, which will contribute to peace, stability, co-operation and development in the two regions and in the world.

They agreed to increase visits by high-ranking officials, representatives from agencies and mass organisations. They also shared the same view that the signing of agreements should be accelerated to create a legal foundation for bilateral trade, investment and co-operation in agriculture, mining and oil and gas.

The minister praised the achievements Vietnam has made during the renovation process and affirmed that the Venezuelan Government and people attach great importance to the role and position of Vietnam in the region.

Deputy Minister Izarra had previously met with Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Dy Nien and Nguyen Van Son, Director of the Commission for External Relations of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, and held talks with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Van Bang.

He also worked with the Ministries of Agriculture and Rural Development and Industry, and the Vietnam Oil and Gas Corporation.
