Talking to Jesper Morch, UNICEF Resident Representative in Ha Noi on August 2, the Vice President stressed that the Vietnamese Party and State always give priority to the protection, care and education of children, and Viet Nam's achievements in this field have been recognised by the United Nations, including the reduction of mother and infant fatalities, and the high rate of children attending schools - at 90 percent.
She said the Vietnamese Government has approved a national action plan for children for the 2001-2010 period, a programme to prevent and curb the abuse of children and the use of child labour for 2004-2010, and an action plan to fight the trafficking of women and children until 2010.
