Vice Foreign Minister of Argentina visits Vietnam

(VNA): The visiting Vice Foreign Minister of Argentina, Garcia Moritan, said Argentina was interested in boosting relation with Vietnam when he was received by Deputy Prime Minister Vu Khoan in Hanoi on August 9.

Vice Minister Moritan said because Argentina has come out of economic crisis, and recorded high economic growth rates in recent years, it is looking to expand external relations, especially with Asian countries, including Vietnam.

The two sides shared the view that bilateral friendship and co-operation have enjoyed progress in recent years, especially in economy and trade. They agreed the relationship should be enhanced through more high-level contacts, which began from the first official visit to Argentina by President Tran Duc Luong in November last year. They said the two countries should increase co-operation in science-technology, nuclear energy use for peaceful purpose, education-training and culture, as well as co-ordinate and support each other in multilateral relations.

Deputy PM Khoan and the Argentine diplomat also discussed regional and international issues of common concern.

The Argentine guest earlier paid courtesy visits to Foreign Minister Nguyen Dy Nien and Chairman of the Party Central Committee's Commission for External Affairs Nguyen Van Son. He also held an annual political consultation with his counterpart Le Van Bang./.
