Viet Nam-Cambodia discuss master plan on border demarcation
Preparations for the on-field implementation of a master plan on border demarcation and landmark plantation between Viet Nam and Cambodia were put on discussion at an irregular working session of the two countries' Joint Committee on Border in Phnom Penh on Dec. 20-22.
The session was attended by Vu Dung, Viet Nam's Deputy Foreign Minister, Chairman of the Border Committee and Head of the Vietnamese delegation, and Var Kim Hong, Cambodia's Senior Minister in charge of Border Affairs and Head of the Cambodian delegation.
They also discussed other works for the implementation of the Supplementary Treaty to the 1985 Viet Nam-Cambodia Treaty on Delimitation. They passed a master plan on demarcation and the Joint Committee's regulations, which will serve as legal basis and orientation for the on-field works, which are expected to finish in December 2008 as agreed by the two countries' top leaders.
Speaking on Dec. 21 to the Vietnamese delegation, Cambodia Deputy Prime Minister Sok An expressed hope that the two sides would closely cooperate to finish the demarcation and landmark plantation at planned time./.
