Viet Nam, Brazil to strengthen economic ties
During the talks held in Brazillia between visiting Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Van An and President of the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies Aldo Rebelo, and the meeting between Chairman An and President of the Brazilian Federal Senate Antonio Carlos Magalhaes, the chief legislators agreed that in the new millennium, the two countries have various opportunities to broaden their alliance.
They were also supportive of both legislative bodies' efforts to increase meetings and visits by staff members, share experiences and assist each other at multilateral forums.
Viet Nam and Brazil share common views on international issues and therefore, it is necessary for the two countries to cooperate more closely at organisations and international forums, President Rebelo said. He stressed that the Brazil-Viet Nam relations are significant, helping boost the friendship, peace and development in Latin America and Southeast Asia.
President Rebelo went on to say that as the leader of the Brazilian lower house, he would do his best to promote friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
After meeting with President Antonio Carlos Magalhaes, Chairman An attended a plenary session of the Brazilian Federal Senate./.
