General Secretary Nong Duc Manh's activities in Brazil

Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh met with the Governor of Rio de Janeiro, Sergio Cabral Filho, on May 28.

At the meeting, General Secretary Manh said that Viet Nam is looking to boost trade and economic cooperation with Rio de Janeiro, Brazil's second largest economic centre with a GDP of 117 billion USD.

With open policies, Vietnamese localities are willing to welcome investors from Brazil in general and Rio de Janeiro in particular.

For his part, Governor Sergio Cabral Filho affirmed that Rio de Janeiro authorities will pursue increased multi-faceted cooperation with Viet Nam, especially in trade, culture, tourism and sports.

Earlier, the Party leader visited the Rio de Janeiro Chamber of Commerce and attended the opening ceremony of the Brazil-Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce, which drew the participation of leading Brazilian businesses.

Speaking at the ceremony, General Secretary Manh said that the Party and State of Viet Nam wish to establish a comprehensive, equal, mutual benefiting and supporting partnership with all countries worldwide, including Brazil.

The General Secretary added that he highly valued the opening of the Brazil-Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce, considering it an important bridge between the two countries' enterprises.

On May 27, General Secretary Manh received the Overseas Vietnamese Community in Brazil. He highlighted that the Party and State always consider overseas Vietnamese an unseparable part of the nation.

The current renewal and national construction need contributions from all Vietnamese people, including overseas Vietnamese, Manh said, adding that the State always creates favourable conditions for overseas Vietnamese, including those in Brazil, to do business in the country./.(VNA)
