ASEAN recognises Vietnam as full market economy

Foreign ministers of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) have supported ASEAN Economic Ministers' decision to recognise Viet Nam as a full market economy, according to a joint communique.

"We supported the decision of the ASEAN Economic Ministers to recognise Viet Nam as a full market economy, taking into consideration its rate of economic progress and integration with regional and global economies," said the joint communique issued at the end of the 40th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting (AMM-40) in Manila, the Philippines, on July 30.

"We encouraged our Dialogue Partners to make similar recognitions," the joint communique added.-(VNA) -
