Belgium, Luxembourg support EU-Viet Nam ties


Ha Noi (VNA) – The Belgian parliamentarian leaders agreed on the Vietnamese Ambassador’s proposal to further boost cooperation between the two countries in science and technology and bring more Vietnamese students to Belgium, considering these as foundation for tightening bilateral relations.
President of the Belgian Senate Armand De Decker and First Vice Speaker of the Belgian Chamber of Representatives Hermans de Croo made the affirmation when they met Phan Thuy Thanh, Vietnamese Ambassador to Belgium and Luxembourg and Head of the Vietnamese Delegation to the European Commission before ending of her term in office.
The leaders expressed their support to Viet Nam’s bid for the seat of non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the 2008-09 term, adding that they would try utmost to boost relations between the European Union (EU) with Viet Nam.
Earlier, Luxembourg Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker received Ambassador Thanh.
The Luxembourg PM reiterated his country’s support to Viet Nam in bolstering relations with the EU. He said he would urge Luxembourg companies to invest more in Viet Nam.
