Mexico hopes for broader ties with Viet Nam

Ha Noi (VNA) – Mexican President Felipe Calderon said he hoped Mexico-Viet Nam ties would be improved, while receiving Vietnamese Ambassador to Mexico Pham Van Que on October 24.
President Felipe Calderon said that the two countries would expand cooperation and share experiences in development and poverty reduction.
Ambassador Que said that Viet Nam ’s joining of the WTO and the UN Security Council will create favourable conditions for the two countries to cooperate further and thanked Mexico for its support for Viet Nam ’s bid for the UN Security Council.
The Mexican President asked Ambassador Que to relay his sympathies over the bridge collapse and floods that have wreaked havoc in Viet Nam recently.
The two countries’ trade ties are expected to reach 500 million USD in 2007.-
