Vietnam expects US to be its No. 1 partner and investor
PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng had a meeting on November 05 with US Commerce Secretary Carlos M. Gutierrez who is leading a visiting delegation of representatives from 22 US companies and economic groups to Việt Nam.
PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng highly valued good developments in the Việt Nam-US relationship over the past time, especially in economic cooperation. Despite differences in some fields, leaders of Việt Nam and the US are proactively holding frank and open dialogues on the basis of mutual respect and understanding.
Economically, Việt Nam always wants to found a comprehensive and long-term cooperation with the US, emphasized the PM. He went on to suggest the US offer more open trade policies to Vietnamese products and goods, especially garments, textiles, agro and marine products. Việt Nam expects greater investments from the US in hydroelectricity, electricity supplies, seaport and mineral exploitation, said PM Dũng.
Commerce Secretary Carlos M. Gutierrez revealed that his delegation’s visit aims to further strengthen the bilateral ties between the two countries. He stated that, with Việt Nam’s incentives to foreign investors as well as its active integration into the international economy, US businesses would find many new chances for doing investment in the country. Secretary Carlos M. Gutierrez proposed a more regular regime of information exchange between the two countries in order to facilitate economic cooperation for mutual benefits.
Meeting representatives from 22 US businesses, PM Dũng stressed that the Vietnamese Government always provide good conditions for US enterprises to succeed in Việt Nam. He was expressed his confidence that, in the near future, the US would become Việt Nam’s biggest partner and investor. (VNGOP)
