Viet Nam attaches importance to relations with DPRK


Deputy Chairwoman of the National Assembly Tong Thi Phong affirmed that Viet Nam always attached importance to relations with the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) while receiving a DPRK women delegation in Ha Noi on November 30.

The DPRK Women’s Union delegation, headed by its President Pak Sun Huy, is on a visit to Viet Nam from November 27-December 1 at the invitation of the Viet Nam Women’s Union .

The Vietnamese legislator said that Viet Nam always supported the DPRK’s aspiration for peace and national unification and welcomed efforts for peace and unification of the two Koreas on the basis of independence, self-control and self-determination in the spirit of inter-Korean high-level agreements 2000 and 2007.

Phong stated that Viet Nam welcomed recent progresses in the six-party talks and was ready to contribute to the process for peace, stability and cooperation in the Korean peninsula.

Pak Sun Huy expressed thanks from the DPRK people and women for supports and assistance from the Vietnamese Party, Government and people to the DPRK, considering it as a great source of encouragement for the DPRK people in the past and at present.

The DPRK Women Union’s delegation was received by Vu Trong Kim, Deputy Chairman of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee’s Commission for Mass Mobilisation. They visited some sites where the late President Kim Il-sung had been to, including the Viet-Trieu Kindergarten in Ha Noi and the Nam Dinh textile plant in northern Nam Dinh province.-(VNA).
