Sweden continues support to nation’s poverty reduction
The Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) will give 12 million krona (equal to 1.84 million USD) to the second phase of a project on “Poverty reduction through integrated small enterprise development.”
An agreement to this effect was signed by the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), the Swedish Embassy and the SIDA in Ha Noi on December 13.
The project in the second phase, lasting from 2007-2009, will assist four provinces, namely Binh Phuoc, Quang Ngai, Thanh Hoa and Tra Vinh, to develop small enterprises, including private and household businesses.
It aims to improve local economies, business environment, and service markets, facilitate small enterprises to access to information and services, and help increase capacity for relevant organisations and agencies in these localities.
During the first phase from 2005-2007, the project benefitted nearly 7,000 Vietnamese people, with 35 percent being female. (VNA)
