Indonesian Vice President hails ties with Viet Nam


Ha Noi (VNA) – Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla affirmed on February 1 that his country and Viet Nam have developed a fine traditional relations.
He told newly-appointed Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Huu Dung that Indonesia has been supporting Viet Nam in the past struggle for national liberation as well as the current national construction.
He went on to say that the two countries should tighten their ties as well as their relations with other members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) for further development.
Ambassador Dung expressed his pleasure at the development of commercial and investment cooperation between Viet Nam and Indonesia . However, he also said it has not matched both sides’ potential.
The diplomat said he believed that on the basis of the agreements signed by the two countries and the outcome of high-level meetings during Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung’s visit to Indonesia last August, the two peoples will soon implement cooperation projects for mutual benefits.
He proposed that Viet Nam and Indonesia increase visits by high-level delegations in order to strengthen mutual understanding, and facilitate exchange between enterprises to open up business opportunities.
