English version of visa exemption website launched

Ha Noi (VNA) - The Foreign Ministry on March 7 launched an English version of its visa exemption website to assist 3.5 million overseas Vietnamese.
Assistant to the Foreign Minister Nguyen Thanh Son, who is also acting Chairman of the Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, said the English site will help those living overseas access smoother visa exemption procedures, especially third generation Vietnamese whose native language is limited.
Son said the Vietnamese version of the website had more than 600,000 hits from overseas Vietnamese since it was launched four months ago. The hits were mostly made by overseas Vietnamese of first and second generations who applied to return to their native land.
The Foreign Ministry is currently running a cultural project to teach the Vietnamese language to third generation Vietnamese born and raised in foreign countries.
Vietnamese communities exist in more than 90 countries and territories worldwide.
