Vice State President meets with Vietnamese community in Laos
Vientiane (VNA) – Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan attended a meeting of associations of overseas Vietnamese in Laos that was held in Champasak province on April 23.
She praised positive contributions by overseas Vietnamese in Laos to the host country’s national construction and defence as well as to strengthening Vietnam-Laos relations.
The Vice President spoke highly of the Vietnamese community’s sentiments towards to the home country, particularly their charitable activities to support compatriots affected by natural disasters.
She also called upon overseas Vietnamese in Laos to uphold the tradition of solidarity to develop their community, preserve national cultural identity and work as a bridge to promote the time-honoured friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos .
Head of the Vietnamese society in Champasak province Doan Huu Dau took the floor, pledging to make the community’s best to develop Vietnam-Laos friendly ties.
He thanked the Government of Vietnam for support to build Vietnamese language teaching schools in Laos and proposed the grant of scholarships to children of Vietnamese origin to study in the home country.
