Work begins on Vietnam-Laos border landmarks

Hanoi (VNA) – The Ministry of Construction (MoC) has asked 10 localities neighbouring Laos to join in planting border landmarks.

The provinces have been empowered to appoint consulting, designing, surveying and building businesses and to conduct geological and topographic surveys of the sites where landmarks will be planted.

The MoC said border landmark planting is important to national security and defence and added that special attention should be paid to the work to ensure all steps are conducted in accordance with laws.

The 10 localities are the northern mountainous provinces of Dien Bien and Son La, the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum and the central provinces of Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien-Hue and Quang Nam.
