Prime Minister affirms strong cooperation with Mozambique
Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung pledged to strongly promote cooperation between Vietnam and Mozambique , saying Vietnam is ready to send experts to Mozambique for projects in agriculture, healthcare and education.
PM Dung made the remarks while receiving Mozambique ’s Prime Minister Luisa Dias Diogo in Hanoi on June 6, who was attending the Global Summit of Women 2008 being held in Vietnam .
PM Dung expressed his pleasure at the fine development of the two countries’ friendship and cooperation. He stressed the fine sentiment and mutual assistance between people of Vietnam and Mozambique in their past struggle for national independence, sovereignty, peace, development and social progress, saying that this common treasure of the two peoples should be highly valued and developed.
He said the recent visits by the Mozambique President to Vietnam and Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh to Mozambique helped lift the two countries’ friendly and cooperative ties to a new height, promoting mutually-benefited cooperation and development between Africa and Southeast Asia .
PM Dung requested the two sides establish an inter-governmental committee as soon as possible in order to implement agreements between the two countries’ leaders.
The two PMs discussed measures to promote the two countries’ friendly and cooperative relations, and affirmed their determination to expand and accelerate economic, trade and investment cooperation, focusing on the areas of expertise, agro-forest-fishery, timber exploitation and processing, pharmacy, health care, education and training, science and technology, environmental protection, energy and tourism.
The Mozambique PM said she admired Vietnam ’s historic victories in the past struggle for national independence and congratulated Vietnam on its achievements in the current renewal process and national development.
She said that Vietnam ’s successes in socio-economic development, especially the implementation of the millennium goals and poverty reduction are valuable experience for Mozambique to follow.
The PM hoped that Vietnam would early send agricultural experts to help Mozambique and Vietnamese businesses would invest in her country.
