Overseas Vietnamese’ contributions to nation encouraged
Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh on September 1 received 43 overseas Vietnamese who have returned for National Day celebrations.
Mr Manh briefed his guests on the country’s achievements over the past years, especially during the Doi Moi (Renewal) process, saying Vietnam has made important achievements in agricultural production and poverty reduction and people’s living conditions have improved significantly.
He attributed the results to the Party and State’s policy of bringing into full play the bloc of great national unity, including overseas Vietnamese communities around the globe.
“The Party and State consider Vietnamese nationals abroad an inseparable part of the nation and create the best possible conditions for them to return and contribute to the homeland,” said Mr Manh.
He said the Party and State have appreciated Vietnamese nationals’ practical contributions to the homeland over the past years to build a strong and prosperous nation. He acknowledged their efforts to preserve the traditional cultural identity in their resident countries, especially the learning of Vietnamese language.
He called on overseas Vietnamese communities abroad to unite, abide by their resident countries’ laws, assist each other in difficulty and make more contributions to the fatherland. He also asked them to help promote friendship and mutual understanding between Vietnam and their resident countries.
Overseas Vietnamese representatives said they were happy to see many positive changes in the homeland as well as Vietnam’s increasing role and position in the world arena. They said they will encourage their peers to take part in activities towards the fatherland. (VOV)
