Vietnam, Cuba tighten relations

A Vietnamese Party secretary has highly valued the Cuban section of the Vietnam-Cuba Inter-governmental Committee for its contributions to boosting comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

Hanoi (VNA) – Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC) Ho Duc Viet made the remarks while receiving the visiting Cuban governmental minister, Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, who heads the Cuban section to the Vietnam-Cuba Inter-governmental Committee, in Hanoi on September 23.

Viet, who is also Head of the CPVCC’s Commission for Organisation, extended condolences to the families of Cuban victims of the two recent hurricanes and conveyed sympathy of Vietnamese Party and State leaders and people to Cuban counterparts over losses triggered by the natural calamity.

The Vietnamese official was pleased with immense achievements the Cuban people have recorded in the past time despite blockage and embargoes imposed by hostile forces and repeated natural disasters.

“Vietnam always stands side by side with Cuba and will do its best to reinforce and further promote solidarity, friendship and comprehensive cooperation with Cuba,” Viet said.

He expressed his belief that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Cuba led by Fidel Castro and Raul Castro, the Cuban people will soon surmount disaster consequences and overcome all difficulties and challenges to reap greater successes in the cause of national construction and defence.

The Cuban governmental minister briefed his host on the results of the 26 th session of the Vietnam-Cuba Inter-governmental Committee and recent developments in Cuba , including the work to overcome hurricane aftermaths.

He took this occasion to thank the Vietnamese Party, State and people for prompt assistance to the Cuban people in overcoming the consequences of hurricanes.

“Cuba is determined to bolster solidarity, friendship, and all-around cooperation with Vietnam,” Ricardo stressed.
