Vietnamese communists pay working visit to Germany

A delegation from the Communist Party of Vietnam made a week-long working visit to Germany at the invitation of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) and the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES).

Berlin (VNA) – The Vietnamese delegation, led by Le Thanh Hai, a politburo member, and secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party’s Committee, had sessions with SPD Secretary General Hubertus Heil and representatives of FES, SPD congressmen at the parliament, and the ministries of foreign affairs and cooperation and economic development.

Those meetings focused on the relations between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the SPD as well as the ties between the two countries.

Both Vietnamese and German sides expressed wishes to make the two countries’ economic-commercial ties on a par with political ties, saying huge potential remained unexploited.

The Vietnamese guests visited Dresden and Leipzig cities, which both have established long-time relations with Vietnam’s economic hub of Ho Chi Minh City, and met with representatives of overseas Vietnamese and businesspeople in Germany.
