Bulgarian Deputy PM calls at friendship association

Hanoi (VNA) - Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ivailo Kalfin called at the Vietnam-Bulgaria Friendship Association (VBFA) in Hanoi on Nov. 2 as part of his official visit to Vietnam.

Vice State President Nguyen Thi Doan joined Deputy PM Kalfin in the visit.

VBFA President Nguyen Minh Thong warmly welcomed Kalfin’s visit, saying that it would be a great momentum for the development of the traditional friendship and multi-faceted cooperation between Vietnam and Bulgaria .

Thong said the association has to date gathered around 1,000 members who had spent some time studying and working in Bulgaria, and set up the Vietnam-Bulgaria Business Club which comprises close to 100 groups and companies operating in the European country.

He proposed the Governments of Vietnam and Bulgaria incorporate agricultural and labour cooperation into the framework of the bilateral cooperation programme, and foster ties among localities of the two countries.

Deputy PM Ivailo Kalfin, who will be in Vietnam until Nov. 4 as guest of his Vietnamese counterpart Pham Gia Khiem, said that Bulgaria and Vietnam will celebrate 60 years of diplomatic ties in 2010 and that he will try his best to develop the relationship.

Vice President Doan took the occasion to thank Bulgaria for its help in training a large number of Vietnamese scientists, officials and students, as well as its support for Vietnam in the past struggle for national independence, and the present cause of construction and development.
