Vietnam-Brazil trade turnover on the rise

VOV - The total turnover from the exchange of animal and plant products between Vietnam and Brazil reached US$318.4 million in 2008, up nearly 45 percent over the previous year’s figure.
According to the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply (MAPA), the country exported US$285.4 million worth of products to Vietnam, a-year-on-year increase of 43.6 percent.

Animal and plant products, mainly chicken by-product, timber, cowhide, tobacco, soybean, wheat and cotton, accounted for 85 percent of Brazil’s exports to Vietnam last year.

At the same time, Vietnam exported to Brazil rubber, wooden products, fruits and vegetables and bamboo products totalling US$32.9 million, making up 16.5 percent of its export turnover to this South American country.

Vietnam currently ranks 44th among importers of Brazil’s animal and plant products and 35th among exporters of these products to Brazil.
