Vietnam, Nicaragua boost oil and gas co-operation

Nhan Dan Online – Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam) and Nicaragua National Oil and Gas Corporation (Petronic) have signed a comprehensive oil and gas co-operation agreement on March 23.

 
The two sides also inked a Joint Research Agreement to assess oil and gas potential in certain lots offshore Nicaragua. Under the agreement, after the joint research period, if potentials are confirmed, the two sides will negotiate for oil and gas contracts.
The agreements was signed in the presence of Nicaragua President Daniel Ortega on the occasion of the working visit to Nicaragua by Petrovietnam’s chairman of the management board Dinh La Thang at the invitation of Petronic President Francisco Lopez Centeno.
Petrovietnam delegation also had working sessions with the Nicaragua Ministry of Energy and Mines and the Institute of Energy to discuss opportunities of co-operation.
The two sides agreed that there are potentials for co-operation in energy, particularly in oil and gas, and related services between the two countries. Nicaragua affirmed that it will create all favourable conditions for Petrovietnam.
Petrovietnam is currently boosting its investment opportunities in central and south America. The group has already had oil and gas contracts in Cuba, Venezuela, Peru and are seeking for other investment projects.
