Vietnam attaches importance to ties with Singapore
Receiving Singaporean Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew in Hanoi on April 16, the Party leader expressed his pleasure at the development of bilateral cooperation in politics, economy, trade, investment, education and training, tourism, health care, security and defence.
He also said he wished the two countries to continue to work closer at multilateral forums, especially in the framework of ASEAN cooperation in the context that Vietnam is going to take over the bloc’s presidency in 2010.
Lee stressed that Singapore also placed importance on furthering multifaceted cooperation with Vietnam , especially in trade, investment and education.
He spoke highly of the achievements Vietnam has made during the renewal process, saying he believed that the country will soon overcome difficulties due to the impacts of the world economic recession, reap more fruits in socio-economic development and make itself an industrial country in 2020.
The Singaporean guest, who has stayed in Vietnam since April 13, will wrap up his visit to the regional country on April 17./.
