Both sides of the border sing same song

The festival went on for five days in Mong Cai City in Quang Ninh and Fangcheng City in Guangxi to celebrate the completion of the planting of land border markers between Vietnam and China .
A statement issued at the event hailed the finish of the land border marker planting process as an event of historic significance, which created a prerequisite for the people along both sides of the border to live in stability and contributes to socio-economic development in each country.
“Vietnamese and Chinese people along the border have pledged to respect and protect the common border markers and promote friendship exchanges among all walks of life, making a practical contribution to making the Vietnamese-Chinese border into one of peace, stability, cooperation and development,” said the statement.
The statement also emphasised that friendship is a valuable asset for both peoples and being good neighbours is essential for peace, stability and development in Asia and the world as a whole.
The friendship festival between people along the Vietnamese and Chinese border, co-sponsored by the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations and the China-ASEAN Association, drew representatives from seven border provinces in Vietnam and their two Chinese neighbours.
In the framework of the festival, Fangcheng City held a forum with the theme “For a border of peace, friendship, stability, cooperation and development.
