Vietnam, Russia commemorate friendship treaty

Nhandan online - Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, Deputy Prime Minister- Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on June 16 exchanged greetings to mark the 15th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty that regulates relations between the two countries.

The letters stressed on the historical significance of the event, which laid the foundations and legal basis for the continuous development of friendship and traditional co-operation between Vietnam and Russia in a new era.

Over the past 15 years, Vietnamese-Russian relations have developed strongly with the establishment and strengthening of the strategic partnership and effective co-operation in every field. These include politics, trade, national defence and security, science and technology, culture and education, which meets the desires of both peoples for peace and stability in Asia, the Pacific region and the world at large. /.
