Vietnam attends friendship bonfire in Cuba
VNA 25/12/2009 - The Vietnamese diplomatic corps joined the staff of 22 other embassies in Cuba for a bonfire of friendship on the outskirts of the Cuban capital of Havana on Dec. 23.
The event was held to celebrate the 49th anniversary of the Cuban Institute for Friendship with People (ICAP) and the 51st anniversary of the Cuban Revolution.
On addressing the event, ICAP’s President Kenia Serrano Puig, emphasised the significance of the annual bonfire which will help to strengthen solidarity, friendship and cooperation between the Cuban people and other peoples around the world for peace, democracy and social advancement.
She used the occasion to call on all organisations, people and peace lovers to support the Cuban people’s demands for the release of five Cuban soldiers who are currently being detained in US prisons and an end to the US ’s embargo on the country.
Special Vietnamese cuisine, including spring rolls and fried rice were offered to everyone who attended./.
