Vietnam, Cambodia boost neighbourliness

VNA 09/02/2010 - Authorities from north-eastern Cambodian provinces paid a courtesy visit to the leadership of Vietnam ’s neighbouring Binh Phuoc province on February 9 for the Lunar New Year festival.

Provincial People’s Committee Chairman Truong Tan Thieu said Vietnam and Cambodia , especially Binh Phuoc and Cambodian border provinces, have enjoyed a long-standing relationship from the struggle for national salvation to economic construction.

“Binh Phuoc province has paid special attention to friendship and solidarity with north-eastern provinces of Cambodia in all fields, politically, economically, culturally and socially,” said the provincial leader.

Thieu expressed thanks to Cambodian border provinces for their assistance in locating and repatriating remains of Vietnamese soldiers and experts who died in the Cambodian soil during the war.

The neighbouring provinces have also provided favourable conditions for Vietnamese investors to operate efficiently in Cambodia , thus contributing to various fields in the Angkor Wat country.

Authorities from Mundulkiri, Karatie, Kompongthom, Kompongcham and Stung Treng provinces expressed interest in further developing relations with Binh Phuoc province./.
