VNA 07/06/2010 - Vietnamese and Laotian officials have met in the central province of Nghe An to review progress on the upgrading of the network of border markers along the Vietnam-Laos border and the planting of new markers.

Both Vietnam and Laos have agreed to move personnel from provinces where the border marker planting has finished to provinces where the programme is behind schedule to accelerate the work.

They also discussed the preparations for the third meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Joint Committee on Border Marker Planting, scheduled for the third quarter of this year.

Both countries have agreed on 261 sites for planting markers and so far the construction of 200 has finished./.
