Children of RoK-Vietnamese marriages get scholarships


VNA 17/10/2010 - As many as 110 students in five central provinces who are children born to Vietnamese-RoK couples have been given scholarships from the Republic of Korea (RoK)’s businesses and organisations operating in the US, at a ceremony in Phu Yen on October 17.

The students are from three central provinces of Phu Yen, Binh Dinh and Khanh Hoa and two Central Highlands provinces of Gia Lai and Dak Lak.

The scholarships have been awarded every three months over the past four years under a programme initiated in 1996 by Lydia Ko, head of Ligh Mission, a non-governmental organisation of Koreans in the US, and Tran Van Ty, director of Dai Nhat manufacturing, trade and tourism company, who himself is a person of mixed race./.
