Thousands of Vietnamese workers returned home

According to the Vietnamese representative missions in the Middle East and North Africa, Vietnamese working teams and diplomatic missions have been closely coordinating with local authorities to evacuate Vietnamese citizens from Libya and bring workers in transit in third countries home.

Viet Nam has also asked international organizations like the International Organization for Migration and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees to provide food and medicine to Vietnamese citizens. Working teams requested companies that employ Vietnamese workers to take responsibility in returning them to Viet Nam as soon as possible.

The Steering Committee on Vietnamese Workers in the Middle East and North Africa has decided to dispatch a second flight to Tunisia, scheduled on March 2nd  evening. The flight would carry another 8 tons of aid onboard and fly about 300 workers home. Also on March 2nd, an inter-agency working team left for Egypt to assist the Vietnamese citizens in transit here in necessary consular procedures.

On March 1st evening, the first flight brought home 318 workers. According to the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, 2,700 Vietnamese workers have arrived in Viet Nam among over 6,000 evacuated from Libya
