Mozambique Minister's visit boosts defence ties

VNA 23/03/2011 - Mozambique Defence Minister Filipe Jacinto Nyussi’s visit to Vietnam is an important landmark in the two countries’ defence cooperation and a contribution to stronger bilateral relations.

State President Nguyen Minh Triet made the remarks during his reception in Hanoi on March 23 for the Mozambique Defence Minister, who is a guest of Vietnamese Defence Minister, General Phung Quang Thanh.

As both countries have always expressed wishes to boost cooperation, their relevant agencies, therefore, need to seek new areas for cooperation to be expanded while strengthening existing cooperative fields, the Vietnamese leader said.

He noted that Vietnam is willing to share its socio-economic development experiences with Mozambique .

Defence Minister Filipe Jacinto Nyussi said his visit was a step toward realising the two countries’ commitments to enhancing cooperation, including defence cooperation.

He briefed President Triet on the results of his talks with Defence Minister Phung Quang Thanh, referring to the signing of a memorandum of understanding to outline specific orientations for bilateral defence cooperation, especially for military-run businesses.

The Mozambique officer congratulated Viettel Corporation on winning the contract to implement a telecom network in Mozambique, while expressing hope that more Vietnam enterprises will come to do business in his country./.
