UN passes Viet Nam Common Country Programme

(VNA - 23/09/2011) - The UN Development Programme (UNDP), the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) and the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) have approved the Viet Nam Common Country Programme Document (CCPD) for the 2012-2016 period, the UNDP said on September 23.

Eamonn Murphy, UN Resident Coordinator a.i. in Viet Nam , said that the CCPD, the first-ever joint country programme submitted by by UNDP, UNFPA and UNICEF, is a milestone in the UN reform process in Viet Nam .

The document was based on the draft One-UN Plan for the 2012-2016 period which represents the joint priorities of all UN agencies operating in Viet Nam within the framework of the Delivering As One (DaO) initiative.

The One-UN Plan addresses the new requirements of Viet Nam as a middle-income country, focusing on Inclusive, Equitable and Sustainable Growth; Access to Quality Essential Services and Social Protection; and Enhancing Governance and Participation.

Developed under a tri-partite task force structure which brought together the Government, the UN Country Team and donors, the CCPD is tailored to align with Viet Nam ’s national plans and programmes, particularly the 2011-2015 Socio-economic Development Plan./.
