VNA 28/11/2011 - Danish Crown Prince Frederik is on a visit to Vietnam from Nov. 27 to Dec. 1 at the invitation of Vice State President Nguyen Thi Doan.
After an official welcome ceremony on Nov. 28, the Danish Crown Prince was received by State and Government leaders.
During his meeting with Vice State President Nguyen Thi Doan in Hanoi the same day, the two leaders expressed their pleasure at the development of the friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries, especially in economics, trade and investment, development cooperation education and scientific research.
They stressed the need to maintain regular high-ranking visits between the two countries, creating a momentum for fostering bilateral ties in the future.
The two leaders spoke highly of the establishment of a Vietnam-Denmark strategic partnership in climate change, environment, energy and green growth, during the Prince’s visit.
Vice President Doan thanked Denmark for its ODA provision for Vietnam , which she said has helped the country reduce poverty and successfully implement many Millennium Development Goals (MDG) set by the United Nations.
She also expressed thanks for Denmark ’s commitment to providing more ODA for Vietnam , focusing on climate change, scientific research and development of environmentally friendly technologies.
Prince Frederik said that his delegation, including representatives of nearly 80 businesses and more than 30 educational organisations, reflects Denmark ’s determination to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam in economics, trade investment, education and training.
After the meeting, Vice President Doan and Danish Crown Prince Frederik witnessed the signing of four cooperative documents on water supply and rural environmental sanitation, maritime preservation, building a quality management system and intellectual property services, and a public administration and administrative reform programme for the 2012-2015 period.
Later on the day, the Danish Crown Prince was received by President Truong Tan Sang, who said that Vietnam needs to benefit from the experience of developed economies, including Denmark , as the country is attempting to shift itself to a new stage of development with a focus on quality growth.
Prince Frederik also expressed a wish to share experience with Vietnam in developing high-quality human resources.
On the occasion, the Prince invited President Sang to visit Denmark at an appropriate time.
At a reception for Prince Frederik on the same day, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung spoke highly of the Danish guest’s visit, which is taking place on the occasion of the 40 th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic ties, saying that the visit will help deepen bilateral cooperative relations in all aspects.
PM Dung stated that Vietnam always remembers Denmark ’s assistance, especially its provision of over 1 billion USD in ODA for the Southeast Asian country.
He said that Vietnam attaches importance to boosting cooperation with Denmark in areas of the two sides’ strengths, such as trade, investment, ODA and human resource development.
He suggested the Danish Royal Family and government continue support for Vietnam by providing more ODA, scholarships for Vietnamese students and assisting in response to climate change and rising sea levels.
Prince Frederik said Vietnam has become a more attractive destination for Danish tourists and investors and in 2010, more than 20,000 Danes visited Vietnam .
After the reception, PM Dung and Prince Frederik witnessed the signing of the Vietnam-Denmark Joint Statement on the establishment of a strategic partnership in climate change, environment, energy and green growth.
On the same day, the Danish Prince visited and presented gifts to disadvantaged children at Birla Children’s Village in Hanoi./.
