Deputy PM Nguyen Thien Nhan seeks IT cooperation in India

(VOV-27/3/2012) - Viet Nam will establish an information technology (IT) training centre named after the Indian IT city of Bangalore, says Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan.

A leading Vietnamese IT university will be assigned to develop this centre, the visiting Vietnamese leader told Shri Hans Raj Bhardwaj , governor of the Indian State of Karnataka, at a meeting on March 26.

Mr Nhan expressed his admiration for IT development in Bangalore and said Viet Nam will send between 30-50 students to study at big IT centres based in the city every year.  

He proposed that the Karnataka administration and IT centres support Viet Nam in training IT security experts, and send their businesses to attend annual IT exhibitions and fairs to be held in Viet Nam.

The governor voiced his support for IT cooperation with Viet Nam and said he will encourage Karnataka-based IT businesses, including Infosys group, to invest in Viet Nam, especially in high-tech parks.

He suggested increasing cooperation between universities and research institutes in Karnataka and their counterparts in Viet Nam.

Visiting Infosys, the biggest IT business in India, in Bangalore city, Mr Nhan expressed his hope that the group will soon explore and invest in Viet Nam. He also vowed to support the group in its investment activities in the country.

The same day, Mr Nhan visited the Indian Space Research Organisation and the Institute of Public Administration in Bangalore.

Bangalore is the biggest cultural, economic and tourism centre in Karnataka. It is home to India’s leading IT and software technology businesses.

Deputy PM Nhan began a week-long official visit to India on March 25.
