Norway converts loans to ODA for Viet Nam

Ha Noi (VNA) - Viet Nam and Norway signed in Ha Noi on Tuesday a letter of intent for an agreement recently reached by the two governments to convert Norway's loans to ODA for Viet Nam.

Vietnamese Vice Minister of Finance Le Thi Bang Tam and Norwegian Vice Minister of Cooperation and Development Olav Kjorven signed the letter, under which Norway's loans will be given to a project on poverty reduction in northern Ha Giang province and central Quang Binh province that is co-funded by the International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD).

The agreement to convert the loans is based on a memorandum of understanding signed by representatives of the Vietnamese government and creditors, including Norway, in Paris, France, on Dec. 14, 2003.
