Viet Nam, Mozambique enhances military cooperation

Senior officials from Mozambique and Viet Nam’s armed forces have pledged to fortify their cooperation, revolving around training and exchanges of army medical experts.

The Chief of the General Staff of the Viet Nam People’s Army, Lieutenant General Nguyen Khac Nghien, and the visiting Chief of the General Staff of the Mozambican Defence Forces, General Lagos Henriques Lidium, made the commitment at their talks held in Ha Noi on July 4.

General Lidium is leading a high-level military delegation on an official visit to Viet Nam from July 2. The visit, made at the invitation of Lt. Gen. Nghien, is the first by a Mozambican top military leader since the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1975.

During their talks, Lt. Gen. Nghien said the visit by the Mozambican army delegation would help deepen the mutual understandings and friendship between the people and the armies of the two countries.

Later the same day, General Lidium and his entourages paid a courtesy visit to Defence Minister Sen. Lt. Gen. Phung Quang Thanh.(VNA)
