Int’l donors praise Vietnam’s efforts in combating corruption
International donors have highly appreciated Vietnam’s efforts in combating corruption and pledged further support for the country’s anti-corruption work.
The donors made the remarks at a dialogue on anti-corruption jointly held in Hanoi on December 3 by the Government Inspectorate, the Central Steering Committee Office for Anti-Corruption and the Swedish Embassy in Vietnam.
They reviewed the initial results of the anti-corruption work in 2007, difficulties and social engagement in the fight.
Government General Inspector Tran Van Truyen said that in the spirit of cooperation, goodwill and mutual understanding, the Vietnamese Government and the international community have agreed to hold two dialogues on corruption prevention annually prior to the Consultative Group (CG) Meeting for Vietnam. Through these dialogues, he said the Vietnamese Government and international donors provide necessary information about cooperation mechanism and inform each other about the latest progress and views to make clear issues of mutual concern, as well as society’s role in combating the phenomenon.
