Viet Nam-Brazil trade value to reach 1 billion USD in 2010

Ha Noi (VNA) – Brazilian Foreign Minister Celso Nunez Amorim expects Viet Nam-Brazil trade value to reach 1 billion USD by 2010.
Speaking at the “Brazil-Viet Nam: New business opportunities” seminar held in Ha Noi on February 27 by the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), Minister Amorin said that current bilateral annual trade value of 300 million USD is incommensurate with their potential. However, it is quite possible to raise the figure to 1 billion USD in the next few years, he affirmed.
According to the Brazilian minister, the Vietnamese market is attractive to Brazilian businesses because Viet Nam is an exemplary model of development.
He stressed that Brazil-Viet Nam commercial ties should be geared towards development cooperation.
Vietnamese Deputy Industry and Trade Minister Bui Xuan Khu expressed his hope to further promote two-way trade, saying that the Vietnamese Government will create favourable conditions for Brazilian businesses to come to Viet Nam .
Minister Amorim is on his first official visit to Viet Nam, running from February 26-28, accompanied by 25 entrepreneurs from Brazil’s leading groups, who are looking for investment opportunities in the fields of mineral exploitation, rubber, oil and gas, garments and textiles, footwear and electronics.
The Braxilian Foreign Minister has met with State President Nguyen Minh Triet, held talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem and worked with Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang.
