IOM helps Vietnamese in UK return home

London (VNA) – The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) has recently organised a workshop aiming to help Vietnamese people, who have been trafficked or smuggled into the UK and have no legal right to remain in the country to return home.

The Assisted Voluntary Return for Irregular Migrant (AVRM) programme given by IOM has helped 90 Vietnamese people return home during the last five years.

Via an online exchange between IOM UK and IOM Hanoi at the workshop, voluntary returnees said they are pleased with their current life in their hometown.

Under the AVRIM programme, voluntary returnees will receive IOM financial support for air tickets and daily expenses in their first three months after coming home as well as small capital to start up their businesses.
