Europe Day celebrated in Vietnam's capital
Hanoi (VNA) – A banquet marking Europe Day was held by the Delegation of the European Commission in Vietnam on May 8, the eve of the official day.
Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang was among Vietnamese guests invited by the Ambassador and Head of the EC delegation, Sean Doyle, and other ambassadors of European Union member countries.
Ambassador Sean Doyle said Europe Day was an occasion to review close ties between the EU and countries from around the world, including Vietnam.
Minister Hoang thanked EC and EU member countries for their support in Vietnam’s socio-economic development and international integration.
Both host and guests agreed there would be continued development of Vietnam-EU ties.
Europe Day marks the anniversary of the day in 1950, when French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman gave a speech calling for European countries to combine their coal and steel production under a single European institution, paving the way for the European Union.-
