1.7 million foreigners flock to Vietnam in four months


(CPV)- Vietnam greeted 1.7 million foreign tourists in the first four months this year, an increase of 16.1 percent on year, reaching more than 30 percent of the yearly target. The country is expected to welcome 4.8-5 million foreign tourists this year.

Nearly 1.25 million foreign tourists came to the country by air, an increase of 6.2 percent on year, 379,822 foreign tourists by road, an increase of 70.5 percent on year and 72,329 foreign tourists by sea, an increase of 8.1 percent on year.

Some markets with large numbers of foreign tourists to the country are China with 291,900 tourists, up 63.9 percent; the US with 165,500 tourists, up 6.4 percent; and Taipei (China) with 111,300 tourists, up 10 percent. The RoK and Japan market continued to see a slight decrease in the number of tourists.
