Seminar on Buddhism’s role in modern life


Lam Dong (VNA) – A seminar on the contributions of Buddhism to building an equal, democratic and civilised society was held in Central Highlands Lam Dong province on May 11 on the occasion of the upcoming United Nations Day of Vesak in Vietnam .

Participants in the seminar agreed that human society should be built on a foundation of good personality of each person, and cultural and happy life of each family.

They focused on the education methods based on Buddhism and issues of concerns to direct the society.

According to Venerable Thich Vien Thanh, deputy head of the Lam Dong province’s Buddhist Sangha’s Executive Council, the seminar was a chance for those having concerns about Buddhism and the society’s progress to learn about Buddhism’s view of a peaceful society, and to exchange opinions on building an equal, democratic and civilised society in Vietnam .

The seminar, initiated by the Lam Dong province’s Buddhist Sangha, attracted the participation of Buddhist dignitaries, Buddhism scholars and local authorities.
