Hanoi (VNA) – Acting Chairman of the Committee for Overseas Affairs Vietnamese Nguyen Thanh Son on July 18 received 82 young overseas Vietnamese coming home for the 2008 summer camp.

He expressed his hope that the young people would gain better understanding of the history and culture of the homeland at the camp and they would help promote the country’s images to international friends.

The 2008 summer camp, themed “Journey to homeland’s heritage sites”, will take place from July 18-August 2.

During the period, young overseas Vietnamese will visit well-known sites like Ha Long Bay, the Royal Palace and Citadel in Hue , Hoi An ancient town and the Cu Chi tunnels outside Ho Chi Minh City in addition to various activities.
The first summer camp for young overseas Vietnamese was held in 2004.

According to the COVA, there are around 3 million Vietnamese people living in 90 countries and territories around the world.
