Overseas Vietnamese youths, students meet in Moscow

The second meeting of Vietnamese youths and students who are living in European countries opened in the Russian capital of Moscow on August 10, drawing over 230 delegates.
Moscow (VNA) – Following the first meeting in Prague , the Czech Republic , a year ago, the four-day event aims to give young Vietnamese people overseas a chance to boost their friendship, mutual understanding and support in study, life and career.

With the participation of delegates from Vietnam , overseas Vietnamese youths can also learn more about the history, cultural traditions and the latest development in the home country.

In a welcome letter sent to the meeting, President Nguyen Minh Triet wrote: “The State and people always devote sentiments and deep care to, and follow each step forward of the young Vietnamese generation abroad.”

He urged overseas Vietnamese youths and students to constantly strive and successfully integrate into the local society in order to glorify the Vietnamese nation and preserve the country’s cultural identity.

The State leader called upon the Vietnamese youth both in and outside the country to stand side by side with the nation to build a strong and immortal Vietnam that is on a par with advanced nations around the world.

As part of the event, there will be an exhibition on Uncle Ho and overseas Vietnamese, art performances, sports competitions and talks focusing on the Vietnamese language and affairs of youth unions.

The meeting is co-organised by the Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, the Vietnam Youth Union, Vietnamese embassies, and youth and student associations in 14 European countries.
