Ericsson wins US$450 million contract to modernise Vietnam’s mobile network

Ericsson, the world's leading provider of technology and services to telecom operators, announced on Sept. 1 that it has signed the largest single contract in Vietnam, amounting to US$450 million, to develop and modernise Hanoi Telecom's nationwide mobile network.

Under the three-year contract, Ericsson will be responsible for the management, operation and network design of Hanoi Telecom's mobile network. The company will change Hanoi Telecom's network from CDMA to GSM/EDGE technology, which is more compatible with international mobile networks.

Ericsson said that its operations are underway and it is expected to provide commercial services by the end of this year. (VOV)
